2009 Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Awards
Presented by

The Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Program
was
established in 2003 by Scadding Court Community Centre to profile the innovative work of youth leaders in anti-racism and diversity. In 2006, Toronto Community Housing became a partner in the Investing in Our Diversity Program. Over the past 7 years we have invested $210,000  in our young people in neighborhoods throughout Toronto.

Investing in Our Diversity Alumni Association members are past scholarship recipients and/or are affiliated with the program. They are young community leaders with a shared passion for and commitment to anti-racism work. Their goal is to create opportunities for youth to engage in positive and proactive dialogue and action to make racism a thing of the past.

Scadding Court and Toronto Community Housing wish to thank all of the sponsors, and community organizations who join us in celebrating the commitment to anti-racism and successes of our 21 scholarship winners.

The scholarship raised over $100,000 and included the announcement of a matching scholarship program with Ontario College of Art and Design. Congratulations to the winners and best wishes in pursuing your goals!

I would like to express my personal appreciation to all of those who continue to support the Investing in Our Diversity Scholarships. As a strong advocate for youth and the battle against racism, I am pleased to see Scadding Court Community Centre and Toronto Community Housing bring together labour unions, businesses,
community organizations and prominent individuals to provide this opportunity for Toronto youth.

I am proud to be a patron of this extremely important community initiative as it represents a vital contribution to the future of Toronto.
