Summer is a busy time at the Centre and we are gearing up to get ready! Already our Friday Night Markets have started in our newly branded Market 707 – prepare yourself for a summer full of all kinds of fully accessible, family friendly and FREE events out there! Not to mention everyone’s favourite fish pond! And you don’t want to miss out on the wrap up of the Scholarship program or the start of our summer programs including Summer Camp, Leaders In Training and Drama Interact.  Enjoy this snapshot of what you have to look forward to!

SCCC has a Summer Camp for children 6 to 12 years old - July 3 to August 24: 9 am to 5 pm.
Why not register your child in a camp that is both fun and educational?
COST: $75.00 per for community members
             $85.00 per week for associate members

Officially launching under the new brand, “Market 707”, SCCC has partnered with organizations and individuals doing great things in Toronto to bring you a summer of FREE activities and entertainment.  The 1st event last Friday was a huge success, launching the weekly Friday Night Market hours with Toronto Fringe outdoor theatre! More Fringe and other upcoming events include:
Wednesday, May 23rd (3pm-7pm): Scadding Court weekly Farmers’ Market begins
Saturday, June 9th (12pm-6pm): Street Food Block Party – Market 707 meets Food Truck Eats


Once again, a great 2012 Scholarship Breakfast hosted by Blaney McMurtry LLP! Thank you to all our partners, sponsors and supporters for a successful kick-off to the 2012 Investing in Our Diversity Scholarship Program. Now the Awards and Fundraising dinner is almost upon us! Please join us on May 17th, 2012 at the Dim Sum King to help recognize the achievements of Toronto’s future leaders, bid on fantastic silent auction items, enjoy twelve courses and be inspired by the energy of these young people. A few tickets are still available!!

ryerson community school nutrition program

SCCC has kicked off our new Ryerson Community School nutrition program! We are now serving a FREE breakfast and a $2 lunch to Ryerson students to ensure that every child has the proper nutrition they need to succeed. Partnering with our Catalyst program, this initiative also provides employment, job training and skills to local youth, and in the Fall we will be adding even more to the program with the addition of a universal snack for all students!

gone fishin'

Preparations for this year’s Gone Fishin’ are well underway. From Saturday June 9th – Saturday June 16th, we will transform our indoor swimming pool into Toronto’s only trout pond! For only $4, people of all ages and abilities get a chance to fish for rainbow trout, and you can get it cooked up in our Cafe too! Registration for school groups has already begun, so get your class in before it’s too late, talk to Mohsin at 416 392 0335 x 228.
