Founded in March 1975, Scadding Court Community Centre is located at the corner of Dundas and Bathurst streets and adjacent to the Atkinson Cooperative Housing Complex (formerly Alexandra Park social housing). Our programs target under-serviced, culturally diverse groups such as low-income families, at-risk children and youth, newcomers, people living with disabilities, seniors and the un/underemployed. Between 500 and 600 people visit the Centre each day to participate in programs and services, or just to socialize.
Scadding Court's mandate is:
To support and foster the well being of individuals, families, and community groups by providing and encouraging both local and international opportunities for recreation, education, athletics, community participation and inclusive social interaction.
Our programming streams include:
- Social Recreation and Wellness
- Support for Children, Youth and Families
- Child and Youth Programs
- Food Security and Urban Agriculture
- Community and Social Development
- Anti-Racism and Community-Building
- Programming and Support for People Living with Disabilities and Seniors
- Newcomer Services
All of our work benefits from partnerships with neighbouring schools, community organizations and institutions committed to improving the health and well being of the community.
