Early Years Programs are for children aged 0-6 and include:

| EMERGENCY AND OCCATIONAL CHILDCARE | |
| Who? | Children aged 0 - 6 |
| What? | This unique, flexible, geared-to-income childcare program offers short-term and occasional care on short notice. It lets parents/caregivers families who do not have regular child care relieve family stressors, attend appointments, look for work or just have a break. Early Childcare Educators also provide information, referrals and foster positive parent-child relationships. |
| Why? | To support families, reduce isolation and promote healthy child and family development. |
| When? | Weekdays from 8:30am – 4pm |

| FAMILY DROP-IN | |
| Who? | Children aged 0 – 6 years and their parents/caregivers |
| What? | A developmentally appropriate, relaxing space staffed by Early Childhood Educators in which children and their parents/caregivers can play, learn, participate in activities, make friends, and find resources and information about parenting issues and programs. |
| Why? | To provide a developmentally appropriate play space, supportive environment and access to resources for parents, grandparents, caregivers and their children. |
| When? | Monday to Friday 9am – 11am, Monday to Thursday 3:30pm – 6pm (year round) |

| INDOOR PARK DROP-IN | |
| Who? | Children aged 0 – 6 years and their parents/caregivers |
| What? | A safe, supervised environment that lets children be active and meet their physical development needs by running, using riding toys and bicycles, playing games, and interacting with others. Parents/caregivers must remain with their children. |
| Why? | To promote healthy child development and physical activity. |
| When? | Thursdays 10am – 12pm (throughout the school year) |

| SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAM | |
| Who? | Children aged 3 - 5 and their parents/caregivers (focus on newcomers, but all are welcome) |
| What? | A program to develop child language, social, reasoning and self-help skills through literacy enhancement, encouragement of pre-reading skills, letters and numeracy, circle time, and sensory activities. Learning about healthy eating and nutrition is integrated into program activities. Workshops for parents/caregivers on parenting and educational issues are provided. |
| Why? | To prepare children and their parents/caregivers for successful entry into the school system. |
| When? | 11 week sessions (4 days/week) are offered at different community locations – contact us for details and to register. |

| PARENTING 1234 | |
| Who? | Young parents (focus on parents under 25 years of age, but all are welcome) |
| What? | A solution-focused program in which young parents learn about child development, safe positive interventions to manage challenging childhood behaviours, meet other supportive parents and develop prevention and intervention strategies. Childcare is provided. |
| Why? | To provide parenting and personal support to young parents with children. |
| When? | Wednesdays 6 – 8pm |

| FAMILIES READING TOGETHER | |
| Who? | Children aged 0 - 6 and their parents/caregivers |
| What? | A 6 week family literacy program that helps parents/caregivers understand how children begin to read and to develop and support pre-reading skills. Weekly sessions offer fun activities, discussion, and play and circle time to encourage reading skills. |
| Why? | To build parent/caregiver skills for helping their child develop early reading skills and to promote parent/caregiver engagement in their child’s education. |
| When? | 6 week sessions are offered twice per year – contact us for dates. |

| FAMILY MATH | |
| Who? | Children aged 4 - 6 and their parents/caregivers |
| What? | A 6 week program in which children learn the beginnings of arithmetic through concepts used in the real world such as measurement, estimation, counting, sorting, and graphing. It uses everyday materials and fun games to help them understand basic math ideas. |
| Why? | To develop early numeracy and math skills in a positive environment and to promote parent/caregiver engagement in their child’s education. |
